Cotefield Nurseries is truly a family run business.
Cotefield Nurseries was started by Cleaver in the mid 90’s as a side-line to the family run farm on a patch of unused land.
Having grown up involved in farming, growing plants was second nature and what was a side-line soon became a business.
At the time, Cleaver was working for the local authority and bringing up the family but after the tragic loss for two colleagues at work Cleaver decided that life was to short and she made the decision to give up the job and dedicate herself to working on her passion of growing plants full time.
It was not at all easy to start. Due to planning restrictions Cleaver could only sell a limited number of products and building up customers was very hard and slow. But through determination and perseverance, slowly it all came together. After 3 years of non-stop hard work and with the support of her husband David, it all started to come together and David joined to work along side her in 2002.
They continued to build up the centre year after year and then in 2010 they were joined by their daughter Anna, who helped set up and now manages their very successful Coffee Shop.
Then in 2012 their son Alex, after training in arboriculture and spending many years gaining experience in New Zealand, Australia and London decided to set a business of his own and has now become the authority on tree care and maintenance.
